I address this in one of my old posts, bu...Thanks!

I address this in one of my old posts, but I actually think Atheism is less about the conclusion one reaches regarding the existence of God, and more about the process one undertakes in analyzing the question. To be sure, the existence or non-existence of God is the signature difference between the two, but I belive the far more substantive difference is the method by which the two conduct their inquiry into the nature of the Universe.

The theist is constrained by ancient texts, by sacred scrolls, by Revelations set down by Bedouin Shepherds and Farmers. They must necessarily filter new information so that it conforms with ancient doctrines and understandings. The Atheist has no such constraint. We are free to accept the Universe on its own terms, free to adapt our worldview to incorporate new information without turning ourselves inside out trying to make it fit within some preconceived framework.

I think the realization that God almost certainly doesn't exist or does not matter in the slightest is a natural consequence of that freedom.Jeffrey A.
